Cygnus Wall South
In the constellation, Cygnus, is a ridge of dust and glowing gas called Cygnus Wall. It is an active star-forming region that stretches along a ocean of blue, glowing oxygen gas. The golden color is glowing sulfur and hydrogen gas. This image shows the layered southern end of the wall.
This project was long in the planning and the execution. I collected most of the exposures I needed for this image using two different telescopes and two different cameras at my home observatory in 2019. It was not until the end of 2024, however, that I gained access to a large telescope located in Spain that I used to acquire the exposures needed to create the structural detail of this remarkable nebula.
28 total hours exposure of RGB visible light, plus hydrogen, oxygen & sulfur emissions
